Practicing Table Manner, Hospitality Management Students Held Hotel Visits at Grand Darmo Suite Surabaya

VOKASI NEWS – D4 Hospitality Management students held a hotel visit at the Grand Darmo Suite which is located in Jalan Progo No. 1-3 district. Wonokromo in the city of Surabaya. The event was held with the aim of increasing knowledge and soft skills in the world of hospitality for Hospitality Management Students and Students. The event will be held on September 24, 2022 at 07.45 and ends at 13.40. This event was attended by 90 participants ranging from the committee itself to Hospitality Management Students, especially the class of 2021 and 2022.

This hotel visit was composed of various series of activities, starting with participant registration starting at 07.45 to 08.50 then participants entering the ballroom. At 09.00 it started with remarks from the Chairperson of the event organizers, then followed by a speech by the Chairperson of the Hospitality Management Student Association. After the opening remarks, the participants continued with the Hotel tour. Hotel tours are activities that provide students with a direct understanding of the facilities, infrastructure and operations in a hotel. Participants are divided into various groups and accompanied by a hotel tour. The hotel guide took participants around the hotel and explained the facilities of the hotel. Such as room facilities, swimming pool, restaurant and other facilities at Grand Darmo Suite Hotel.

After that, it was followed by a Table manner which was attended by all participants, namely Hospitality Management Students class of 2021 and 2022. Table manner is a eating procedure that regulates how to sit, how to use food, and etiquette when eating. table manner is expected to show a good attitude at a banquet. Mc invites participants to do Table Manner according to the rules. The table manner menu itself starts from Appetizer namely Classic Avocado Shrimp Salad Cocktail Dressing then there is Soup Chicken mushroom cream with dried parsley, then Main Course is grilled tenderloin steak with black pepper sauce and the last dessert is vanilla ice cream with cake served with fruits caramel.

Mc also explained the Table Manner from history to how to do a Table Manner so that it could provide students with knowledge as well as skills. After the table manner activities, it was followed by live cooking carried out by a chef from Grand Darmo Suite Hotel, chef Heru. Chef Heru did live cooking with a menu of grilled tenderloin steak with black pepper sauce. The chef also performs various cooking scenes that are fun and easy to understand so you can try them at home. After the live cooking was over, it was continued with Bar Knowledge and Latte Art. The activity invited the representatives of the participants to try to directly practice making coffee drinks with a coffee machine. Pak Feri as an expert in making coffee drinks teaches how to use a coffee machine and mix delicious coffee so that he can increase the knowledge of all participants in the event. After the Bar Knowledge and Latte Art were over, the closing session was at 13.40 which was closed by the chief executive and then continued with a group photo session.

By holding this activity, it is hoped that all D4 Hospitality Management student participants for the 2021 and 2022 classes can gain an understanding of knowledge in hospitality so that they can develop their potential and be successful in the hospitality industry. It is hoped that the knowledge gained from this event can be used as a reference for D4 Hospitality Management students to become competent and superior individuals.
