VOKASI NEWS – The Occupational Safety and Health Student Association, Faculty of Vocational Studies, Airlangga University held a Guest Lecture event. The Guest Lecture event was held on 27 May 2022 at 13.00 to 15.00 WIB with the topic of Safety Culture. This event was attended by more than 60 students from the class of 2019 to 2021. This series of events explored more deeply about safety culture which is very useful for everyone, especially workers in an industry or company.
The Guest Lecture program began with speech from Dr. Tika Widiastuti. S, E, M. Si as the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Vocations. After the speech, the presentation of Safety Culture material was continued by Azizan bin Ramli, Ph.D from Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP). He explained that culture is closely related to habits. Therefore, Safety Culture needs to become a habit for workers so that every action taken is safe and does not cause work accidents or occupational diseases. In addition, he also explained about safety culture theories based on the Domino Effect theory, H.W Heinrich. This theory is the basis for the emergence of other theories.
The Guest Lecture activities run smoothly and interactively. This was proven when the participants actively answered the questions given by the presenters on the sidelines of the presentation of the material. In addition, during the discussion session, many participants asked questions related to the material that had been presented. The holding of the Guest Lecture event with the topic of Safety Culture is a form of HIMA K3’s efforts to strengthen the implementation of K3 culture in daily life.
