VOKASI NEWS – Learning how to care a minor wound for children with an interactive and interesting methods.
Students from the D3 Nursing Program, Faculty of Vocational Studies, Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), held a community service activity titled “How to Properly Treat Wounds for Children.” This event took place in Jedong Hamlet RT 06 RW 02, Urangagung, Sidoarjo. This activity targets children aged 8 to 10 years and aims to increase their knowledge about treating minor wounds independently.
This activity is an implementation of the English Nursing course whose lecturer is Hafna Ilmy Muhalla, S.Kep., Ns., M. Kep., Sp. Kep., M. B. The event was organized by Group 7 GR-4B Semester 4. The group consists of Berlian Puspita Sari, Fida Mau’izah Luthfi, Hellen Mayren Patrisis, and Novi Kartika Maulani.
Interactive Activities in Learning Minor Wound Care with Children
Interactive learning methods were used throughout the event. These included educational animations, practical demonstrations, and quiz games. Children were encouraged to understand the importance of wound hygiene. This knowledge helps prevent infection.
High rates of minor injuries in children from physical activities like playing and falling, combined with their lack of knowledge on proper wound care, motivated this activity. This education aims to increase children’s understanding of the importance of maintaining wound hygiene, preventing infection, and performing first aid independently or with the help of parents.
The event took place from 07.00 to 13.00 WIB and opened with an ice breaking session to break the ice. Afterward, the children participated in wound care training. The training included how to clean wounds, use antiseptics, and correctly apply plasters and bandages. Animated videos made the material engaging and easy to understand. The session concluded with reflection, evaluation, and the distribution of appreciation gifts to participants.

Along with the event began, the team documented all of the interactive activities. The video showcased the educational process and the participants’ enthusiasm. These videos will serve as learning tools and promotional materials. They aim to broaden the impact of the program. The activity received positive feedback from participants. The children showed great enthusiasm and improved their understanding of minor wound care.
During the event, the childrens actively engaged in practical sessions and quizzes. This program not only provided practical education but also demonstrated UNAIR students’ commitment. The students support a healthy lifestyle from an early age through a fun and applicable approach.
