D4 Hospitality Management program Unair hosted Arda Rana as a guest lecturer in a session titled, “Flawless & Professional: Mastering International Grooming Standards for Hoteliers.” This session highlighted the importance of grooming standards aligned with the global hospitality industry. Grooming is not just about good looking, but also about establishing a level of professionalism that enhances guest trust and a hotel’s reputation.

Here are some essential grooming aspects that must be maintained in the hospitality industry:
- Attire
Uniforms and dress codes are the most fundamental aspects of professional grooming in hospitality. Hotels often enforce strict uniform policies that align with the hotel brand and international guest expectations. Uniforms must always be clean, well-ironed, and properly maintained. Additionally, clothing should be well-fitted and comfortable to avoid an untidy or unprofessional appearance.
For those who do not wear uniforms, their clothing should still reflect a polished, professional image, following appropriate business casual or formal attire depending on the role.
- Hair Grooming
International grooming standards require well-maintained hair that suits individual features while aligning with the hotel’s professional image.
They should keep their hair neat and natural-looking, reflecting professionalism. Keep hair away from the face and tie it back if necessary to prevent distractions while working or serving guests. Trim hair regularly for men, and neatly groom facial hair, if any.

In professional grooming, makeup should be minimal, neat, and enhance natural features without being excessive, especially for women.
