One such solution gaining popularity is the use of “Eco-Bricks.” These outstanding building blocks have a good impact on communities, ecosystems, and the environment. In addition, it is also to assist in the reduction of the use of plastic.
What Are Eco-Bricks?
Eco-bricks are a creative and sustainable way to manage plastic waste. They are created by solidly packaging non-biodegradable waste materials, such as plastic bags and wrapper plastics, with clean, dry, old plastic bottle waste. The resulting dense and sturdy bricks can be used as construction materials in various projects, from homes and schools to community facilities and garden structures.
How Are Eco-Bricks Made?
Creating eco-bricks is a simple and effective process that individuals can do with minimal equipment and resources. The first step in creating eco-bricks is to collect plastic waste. Collect, clean, and dry the plastic bottles and flexible plastics. After that, discard the bottles’ labels, caps, and residues. Make sure the inside of the bottles is dry. As everything has dried, condense the plastic bottles with the waste plastic. They should be closely packed to make a sturdy brick. Commonly, one of the eco-brick bottles weighs around 200–300 grams. Finally, Cap the bottle securely to prevent the plastic waste from escaping or deteriorating due to exposure to the elements. Eco-bricks, as we all know, have several environmental advantages.
