VOKASI NEWS – Innovative Children’s Education: Combining Games, a Bilingual Wall Magazine, and Skin Anatomy. Children tend to learn more easily when materials are delivered in a fun and interactive way.
This idea became the foundation of an English education activity themed around skin anatomy, combined with games and creative learning media. A relaxed yet educational learning atmosphere can encourage curiosity while helping participants understand new English terms related to daily health.
Program Overview and Objectives
The English educational activity focusing on skin anatomy was held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Jl. Kedinding Lor Gg. Blimbing Utara No. 9, Kenjeran, Tanah Kali Kedinding, Surabaya. This program involved 10 participants aged 9–14 years and aimed to improve their English skills as well as their basic understanding of the skin, including its anatomy, functions, diseases, and care.
Bilingual Wall Magazine as Learning Media
The activity was conducted by Group 5 GR-4A members: Nidya, Zulfia, Dewi, and Eka. The learning method was designed to be interactive using a wall magazine (mading) with a bilingual concept (English and Indonesian), making it easier for participants to understand the material step by step.
Ice-Breaking Through “Guess Me” Game
The series of activities began with participant registration. It was followed by the “Guess Me” game, which served as an initial assessment of the participants’ knowledge of English and basic skin anatomy concepts. This game aimed to identify their prior understanding while also creating a fun learning atmosphere.
Main Learning Session: Understanding Skin Anatomy
In the main session, the material was delivered using the bilingual wall magazine. The topics included the anatomy of the skin, its functions, common skin diseases, and skin care. The use of two languages helped participants understand new English terms without losing their meaning in Indonesian.
In addition to the material presentation, the activity included a six-step handwashing practice as a preventive measure against bacteria entering the skin. This practice not only reinforced theoretical understanding but also promoted clean and healthy habits from an early age.
Learning Evaluation with “Match Me” Game
To evaluate participants’ understanding after the session, a “Match Me” game was conducted. In this session, each participant was asked to read and match information in English independently. This activity trained their reading skills while strengthening their comprehension of the material.
The participants showed high enthusiasm throughout the activity. This was reflected in their active participation in answering questions, engaging in games, and taking part in the practice session. There was a noticeable improvement in their knowledge, particularly in recognizing English terms related to skin anatomy.
As a form of appreciation, rewards were given to active participants. The activity was then concluded with a group chant to reinforce learning motivation.
