Fire Protection: How to Extinguish Fires Guided by Expert
Students were divided into teams and assigned specific roles in fire protection exercises. Each team has a commander to direct, someone throws the hose, and someone is on standby to turn on the tap when on command. So, when a fire burns in front of it, it’s called a spray technique.
The spray technique means that the water from the hose will form like a shield and the students will be protected, so that as long as they are behind the water shield the students will not feel hot, whereas if there was a big fire at a distance of 5 meter it would already feel very hot. Then, after the source of the fire has been extinguished, the commander will give the signal to the tap operator to turn it off. Apart from that, OSH students also learn theories such as, fire appears when there are three factors, usually called triangle fire, named oxygen, heat source and fuel.
Evacuation Process in Confined Spaces
Here is the second training. Confined space is a room with limited access and limited air circulation, such as in a refinery, bunker, etc. So, during training the case will be to save fire victims indoors. because in the fire room there was minimal air access, students had to use a device called a SCBA (breathing aid).
Students are divided into groups, and each group has five members. These five people entered a narrow room with minimal lighting. When carrying out training, the leader in front is the commander, his job is to look for victims (dolls), so it is a kind of secret mission. A team must walk together holding each other and relying on the commander, and after finding victims, they will be evacuated. After leaving the room, the victim will be given first aid in the form of breathing assistance.
