VOKASI NEWS – Vocational students hold an industrial visit at Penang Retirement Resort on Tuesday (28/4/206), as part of an international outbound program in Malaysia. This multidisciplinary group gathered students from diverse backgrounds, including Physiotherapy, Dental Health Technology, Occupational Health and Safety, Digital Office Management, English Language, and Digital Business Accounting.
Discovering the Facilities at Penang Retirement Resort
The management team at Penang Retirement Resort warmly received the delegation and offering an inside look at a ‘healthy aging’ residential model that seamlessly blends luxury comfort with professional medical care. During the visit, students explored the facility’s two primary living options: independent living units which designed for the elderly people who wish to enjoy amenities while maintaining their privacy, and assisted 24/7 care units, which are tailored for residents requiring consistent medical supervision and intensive daily support.
One of the outbound participants, Vanesa Sakina Yasmin, shared her impression during the visit by saying, “Growing older does not mean the end of being productive. Penang Retirement Resort truly redefines what it means to enjoy life through its supportive environment, modern facilities, and services that allow elderly residents to live comfortably.”
A Multidisciplinary Study of Geriatric Care Management
During the activity, students observe the application of geriatric services and designated daily activities to maintain physical and cognitive health, such as physiotherapy, exercise, arts, cooking, and gardening. Students also gained a deep understanding of the fundamental roles that personalized care, empathy, communication, and teamwork applied in the resort’s daily operation through the comprehensive guided tour.
This visit ranging from the complexities of administration and service management, professional communication, and financial oversight of an international environment to ensure long-term facility sustainability. Ultimately, this experience guides the students with diverse major to effectively grasp the knowledge between academic theory and real-world professional practice.
Strengthening Institutional Partnerships
The visit concluded with a symbolic plaque handover from the Faculty of Vocational Studies to Penang Retirement Resort. This is a symbol of gratitude and also a milestone to mark the establishment of a strong collaborative relationship between the two institutions.
