VOKASI NEWS – Vocca, the student band from Universitas Airlangga’s Faculty of Vocational Studies, energized the Faculty Orientation closing event with a well-curated setlist that connected with both students and lecturers.
A Musical Touch to a Memorable Closing
On August 23, Vocca, the student band from Universitas Airlangga’s Faculty of Vocational Studies, performed at the closing ceremony of the Faculty Orientation for new students. This annual tradition, locally called Ospek Fakultas, serves as an introduction for newcomers to the university community.
The band’s appearance added a lively touch to the event. Their setlist featured three songs carefully chosen to engage both students and lecturers. The opening song, Sesaat Kau Hadir, originally released in the 1990s, was selected for its familiarity among many lecturers while still appealing to younger audiences. Band members considered it an ideal opener to create a warm and inclusive atmosphere.
Setlist Designed for Connection
The second performance featured Terlalu Cinta, a song from the early 2000s. This track was selected not only for its broad appeal but also in response to a request from the band’s guitarist. The drummer shared that the choice also provided an opportunity to showcase their technical skills.
For the finale, Vocca played Mata ke Hati, a song known for its energetic and youthful tone. The band explained that they wanted to end on a high note, inspiring enthusiasm and leaving the audience in good spirits.
Impact on the Event
Vocca’s performance was more than just entertainment. It contributed to building a sense of community among new students, helping them feel welcomed as part of Universitas Airlangga. The music fostered a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, closing the Faculty Orientation with a celebration that balanced formality and fun.
