Dean's Official Welcome Address

Prof. Dian Yulie Reindrawati, S.Sos., MM, PhD.

The Fourth Industrial Revolution represents an increasingly complex industrial landscape heavily powered by machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies. Indonesia must actively prepare itself to meet the rapidly evolving demands of the global industry. The single greatest challenge in sustaining this development lies in human resource capabilities. To drive transformation toward production processes that are efficient, resilient, and sustainable, preparing industrial human capital through vocational education is paramount—elevating skills from predominantly low-to-middle skill levels up to high-skill industrial competency.

The Faculty of Vocational Studies at Universitas Airlangga stands fully ready to address these global challenges, backed by a rich legacy of delivering diploma programs since 1984. For nearly four decades, our vocational programs have continuously evolved to stay aligned with the dynamic demands of industry, commerce, and the labor market. Today, offering 19 comprehensive study programs, our faculty is primed to realize the vision of excellence with morality alongside the academic and professional faculties of Universitas Airlangga.

"As a hub for superior, industry-ready talent, the Faculty of Vocational Studies at Universitas Airlangga continuously strives to produce Associate and Applied Bachelor graduates who strictly meet the competency standards of each curriculum."

A key strategic initiative undertaken by our faculty is the implementation of a curriculum featuring at least 60 percent direct hands-on practical training for all Associate Degree and Applied Bachelor students.

Furthermore, the Faculty continues to build extensive networks across both commercial and industrial sectors. This growing network opens promising horizons for our students to hone their professional expertise. Entrepreneurial capabilities are also embedded into our learning framework, ensuring our graduates are not only ready for employment but also capable of creating new job opportunities for themselves and the broader community.

Advancing vocational education has become a core national focus in the nation's effort to elevate human capital. Vocational education is an applied learning model tailored to the mastery of specific technical skills and expertise. Consequently, our graduates are empowered to actively contribute to national economic growth as professional, creative, and innovative leaders.
