History

The Vocational Faculty of Airlangga University is the 14th faculty at Airlangga University based on the Statutes of Airlangga University established through Government Regulation Number 30 of 2014 on May 14 2014. This was confirmed by the Decree of the Chancellor of Airlangga University Number 1539/UN3/2014 concerning Adjustment of the Designation of Vocational Schools as Vocational Faculty and Vocational Faculty Flag Setting on June 4 2014.

The establishment of the Vocational Faculty is in accordance with the mandate of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education System, Law No. 12 of 2012 concerning Higher Education, Government Regulation No. 30 of 2006 regarding the Establishment of Airlangga University as a State-Owned Legal Entity, as well as the Articles of Association and Airlangga University Bylaws, which states that Airlangga University organizes higher education for academic, professional and vocational education types.

Prior to the establishment of the Vocational Faculty, diploma education (which is now under the coordination of the Vocational Faculty) was entrusted to academic faculties in eight faculties which have been developing diplomas, namely: Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Public Health, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Economics and Business, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, and Faculty of Science and Technology. With the establishment of the Vocational Faculty, the type of vocational education at Airlangga University will be more focused and it is hoped that it will become a pioneer of the Vocational Faculty in Indonesia, parallel to the types of academic and professional education that developed earlier, and become a driving force for applied research at the diploma, undergraduate, and applied masters levels. , and applied doctorate in Indonesia.

Based on Republic of Indonesia Law no. 12 of 2012 in article 16 (1) Vocational education is a higher education diploma program that prepares students for jobs with certain applied skills to applied undergraduate programs (2) Vocational education as referred to in paragraph (1) can be developed by the Government until applied master program or applied doctoral program (3) Guidance, coordination and supervision of vocational education is the responsibility of the Ministry.

The forerunner of the Vocational Faculty at Airlangga University has been running since 1984. At that time it held a diploma program managed by the academic faculty. At that time the Faculty of Medicine held a diploma program III Medical Analyst, Physiotherapy, Radiology and Traditional Medicine (BATTRA); The Faculty of Dentistry organizes a Diploma III program in Dental Health Engineering; The Faculty of Public Health organizes a diploma program III Hyperkes and Occupational Safety; The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine organizes a diploma program III in Integrated Animal Health; The Faculty of Economics and Business organizes diploma programs III in Accounting, Taxation, Marketing Management, Banking Management, Secretarial and Office Management, and Hospitality Management; The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences organizes a diploma program III in Library Engineering and Tourism/BinaTourism; The Faculty of Social and Cultural Sciences organizes a diploma program III in English; The Faculty of Science and Technology organizes a diploma program III in Information Systems and Automation of Instrumentation Systems.

On January 27, 2012 the Chancellor stipulated the Establishment of the Airlangga University Vocational School through the Decree of the Chancellor of Airlangga University Number 983/H3/KR/2012. At that time the organizational structure of the administrator/manager of the Airlangga University Vocational School had not yet been formed. The new Vocational School leadership was inaugurated on March 28 2014 through the Decree of the Chancellor of Airlangga University Number 850/UN3/2014. According to the decree, the Chancellor appointed Dr. Dian Agustia, S.E., M.Si, Ak., CMA., CA as Dean; Dr.Imam Subadi, dr., Sp.KFR as Deputy Dean 1; Dr. Heru Tjaraka, SE., MSi., Ak., BKP., CA as Deputy Dean 2 and Dr. Retna Apsari, M.Si as Deputy Dean 3. With the reduction of UNAIR Statutes and with the Decree of the Chancellor of Airlangga University Number 1539/UN3/2014 concerning Adjustment of the Designation of Vocational School as a Vocational Faculty and Setting the Flag of the Vocational Faculty and the Decree of the Chancellor of Airlangga University Number 1530/UN3/ 2014 concerning the Establishment of the Transfer of Management of Diploma 3 (D3) Programs from Faculties to Vocational Faculties, the Vocational Faculty is legally and formally running and ready to realize excellence with morality  together with the academic faculties and professional faculties at Airlangga University.
