Translating

Translating involves converting written text from one language to another, focusing on accuracy, style, and tone. It allows for careful consideration and revision before the final product is produced. This can be a good fit for individuals who enjoy working with written material, have a keen eye for detail, and appreciate the opportunity for revisions.

Interpreting

On the other hand, involves orally translating spoken language in real-time. This requires quick thinking, excellent listening skills, and the ability to convey messages accurately and efficiently. Interpreting can be a good fit for individuals who enjoy dynamic, fast-paced environments and have strong communication skills.

Neither Option is Objectively Better Than The Other

Ultimately, neither option is objectively better than the other. It’s important for students to consider their own strengths, interests, and career goals when making this decision.
